Review:
Donnie Darko is a type of film that gives viewers a type of material that promotes hard thinking and even harder thinking. After the film is finished, it is almost impossible to keep you from thinking about all the possible ways to interpret such a film. It is not completely surreal or full of quirky nonsense, it's more like a series of events that seem to make sense on one level, no sense on another level, and finally make sense of ; another level. The film serves as an illusion to what actually happens, it is almost cheerfully distracting.Our main character, Donnie Darko a boy who suffers from sleepwalking, and now what appears to be disillusioned. He manages to avoid certain death by a man in a rabbit costume. This twisted rabbit also informs Donnie that the world will end within a month. This aroused curiosity and fear in Donnie, who also all other aspects of a teenagers life to worry about. The film continues with the feel of a teen flick, like a horror and a plot suitable for a fantasy. At the end of the film is the part that makes you want to watch it again. You think you've discovered what really happens for the first time, show error on the second time and will sit and look at every possible detail the third time. Richard Kelly has created an instant cult classic, and maybe something more than that. Extremely well written with believable characters who speak credible dialogue.Ill be the first to admit, this movie is not for everyone. People will either love or despise it with all his heart. I enjoyed this movie and recommend it to anyone with a taste for dark humor and a willingness to put the pieces together again and again, long after the movie is over. 10/10
